Website uptime monitor

Whether the website is suffering from frequent downtimes, is of prime concern to every webmaster. Website downtimes can cast a serious impact on the reputation of the site, its visitors and the revenue generated from the site. Now there are many applications out there to monitor the downtime of a site but most of them comes with a price tag. So for those webmasters who are maintaining a personal website, these softwares are a bit extravagant. Google Chrome’s extension, server monitor, comes in quite handy for individual website owners or for people who are not webmasters but want to monitor their favorite sites for some reason.

Server Monitor is a very useful monitoring tool. It lets user to put one or more URLs at a user-defined interval to check the status and content of the page.

Once you install it to Chrome browser,  a colored sphere icon will be added to the browser. Green means the site responded with the content that was expected. Yellow means the site responded but the content was different than expected. Red means the site failed to respond.

You can also configure Server Monitor to display pop-up notification when certain events such as  connection errors or server, website restoration or unexpected responses occur.

Thanks rithika for your comment. I checked out 100pulse. Well its good but its not a free one. On the other hand this one is a small widget of chrome with no additional resource requirement. Though its not the thing that a big webmaster would rely on. :-)

Good stuff.. I'd rely on 100pulse for their effective monitoring service with instant alerts. Just check out 100pulse..
