Android is constantly on the verge of developing and improving itself with the introduction of new features from time to time. So, the latest addition to join in that trend is Android 8.0 Oreo with some new updates, ready to be rolled out anytime soon.
According to the latest reports, Google is currently working on minimizing the problem of storage running out of space. With this latest update, Android will detect the inactive apps on the apps, occupying a lot of space and further freeing it by reducing its cache sizes and thus increasing the battery’s life. The users of the Android 8.1 developer preview have now searched for a banner at the top of the typical Battery screen that calls out any app that’s significantly draining the battery. In two examples the report gave, there’s a battery symbol with an exclamation point next to Tile and Fenix, indicating their battery abuse. Thus, it makes sense for these apps to hog the battery so much that states Tile requests often for location data and Fenix for keeping the phone always-awake.
The user can now easily search for the inactive apps rather the main causes for draining the phone’s battery. Hence, the users constantly complaining about the phone’s battery life can obviously opt for this latest version of Android.
Moreover, the app will also not delete the application and its associated data. But the only effect after the cache size is reduced will be that the application would become a little slow.
Launched in the month of August, Android 8.0 Oreo has a user base of only 0.2, while the Android 6 Marshmallow has the highest number of user base which is 32%.
Right now, the battery-saving feature is only a part of Android 8.1 Developer Preview. So, there are no such speculations whether it would be also included in the official package. Given the usefulness of this battery warning feature, there are just more odds in the favor.
But again there’s always a room for improvement. The feature only lets users turn off certain parts of the app that causes battery drain, but in the future maybe Android might as well explain the reason why the app is causing such a huge strain on the battery, or perhaps it can even show users other processes that contribute to rapid battery depletion, such as having Bluetooth or mobile data on for long periods.
