India finally gets to meet ‘Ghost’. Well, not really, but this is the codename for the bezel-less smartphone to be launched by BlackBerry in India. Also, with this, BlackBerry is all geared up to jump on the bandwagon of bezel-less smartphones. To delve deep, this BlackBerry Ghost is a premium smartphone that would have its launch in the Indian market and appears to have a bezel-less 18:9 display. The handset would be reportedly made by Optiemus, a Delhi-based telecom enterprise which had already signed a licensing agreement for marketing and manufacturing BlackBerry devices in India, as per the announcement from February, last year.
As per the leak by Evan Blass, the Ghost smartphone would be made by Optiemus. Blass even shared an image on Twitter which clearly depicts a sleek design of the handset. However, there is no clarity on the details regarding its specifications. Though, it is quite clear from now itself that there is definitely no mechanical keyboard on this smartphone.

As per Blass, this premium smartphone boasts of a rather slim bezel and runs on Android, but that is all there is to know about the smartphone as of now. Also, there is no such information on when the BlackBerry Ghost would arrive, but it is good to see that the company has decided to become an entrant to the premium smartphone market. Notably, it might be possible that the handset would be confined to India only. Also, right now the actual name of the handset has yet to be revealed.
To look back, BlackBerry had stopped designing and building its own smartphones from way back in 2016, instead licensing the brand out to others. TCL now holds the license to manufacture most BlackBerry smartphones globally, such as the KeyOne, Motion, and DTEK60. Further, TCL holds the right to make and sell BlackBerry-branded smartphones in all countries except India, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Nepal, and Bangladesh.
