Bots create own language, Facebook shuts AI system

The days have hardened for Facebook. Just a few days back, Tesla CEO Elon Musk regarded Facebook co-founder Mark Zuckerberg’s perception of AI as limited. Now the recent scenario states that this Social Media Company has apparently abandoned one of its Artificial Intelligence systems as ‘things got out of hand’. The AI bots developed a language of their own without any human interference and this is the prime reason why it got shut down. The AI bots’ resorted to creating and communicating with the new language without using the provided codes.

As per the recent reports, the problem did not signify that AI would start shutting down computers on a global sphere or something of that sort, but denied using English language and created a different language comprehended only by the AI systems, completely denying their actual purpose. Thus, the Facebook authorities thought that it was better to cease the AI systems and force them to speak to converse with each other only in English.

Where it all began:

It was in June when the researchers from the Facebook AI Research Lab (FAIR) realized that while they were engrossed in improving the chatbots, the ‘dialogue agents’ were busy in creating their own language. As per the Media reports, soon after this, the bots started deviating from their previously set norms and started conversing in a brand new language, exclusively created without any human input.

These ‘dialogue agents’ were left to converse using the machine learning mechanisms so that it would make their conversational skills more strong.

According to the reports, after mastering the art of negotiation, the bots took to machine learning and implementing advanced strategies to enhance the outcome of these negotiations. Further, it stated that “Over time, the bots became quite skilled at it and even began feigning interest in one item in order to ‘sacrifice’ it at a later stage in the negotiation as a faux compromise”.

As the story goes:

Of course, this is quite an advancement for AI but several experts like Stephen Hawking have expressed concerns for humans who are limited due to slow biological evolution and in the long run, could override AI.

Here again, he is supported by other big shots like Tesla’s Elon Musk, Philanthropist Bill Gates, and Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak.

This incident has garnered more attention since it took place just after the recent war Of words between Musk and Zuckerberg in reference to the effects of AI over humanity.
