Competition is soaring high in the telecom sector and for this state-run telco BSNL is constantly revising its prepaid plans and also launching new ones with better benefits. This time its in the news again for revisiting its prepaid plans and also launching a new one with better benefits.
Initially launched as a Diwali offer, the ₹78 recharge prepaid plan offers unlimited local and national calling without any FUP. Of course, unlike the other BSNL plans, this plan lets users make unlimited calls to numbers in Mumbai and Delhi circles too. The plan is valid for 10 days, and along with this users would also get 2GB 2G/3G data daily, meaning, even after the validity period, one can download up to 20GB data.
Once the daily data limit of 2GB is hit, users can continue with unlimited downloads, but at a reduced speed of 80Kbps. Users also have the access to avail unlimited video calling option, and to activate the same one needs to send an SMS ‘STV COMBO78’ to 123.
This plan is meant to compete with Vodafone, Idea Cellular and Airtel’s ₹65 and ₹95 prepaid plans. Both these plans offer 28 days validity, but the benefits are different. For instance, the ₹65 plan offers talktime of ₹55, 200MB data and outgoing calls are charged at 1p per second. The ₹95 plan, on the other hand, offers a talk time of ₹95, 500MB data and outgoing calls are charged at 30 paise per minute.
Reliance Jio also has a plan priced at ₹98, which offers 2GB data, 28 days validity and unlimited local and national calling without any FUP. Users also get complimentary subscription to Jio suite of apps.
