Sony Xperia XA2

Sony has revealed their first new smartphones of the year in the form of the Xperia XA2 Ultra and Xperia L2 at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.

Sony Xperia XA2 and Xperia XA2 Ultra are two selfie centric smartphones that succeeded last year’s XA1 and XA1 Ultra and improve upon them in key success areas such as the battery, cameras, and processor.

The Sony Xperia XA2 Ultra release date is set for February but the price is not yet announced.

Design

The Sony Xperia XA2 Ultra boasts a familiar Sony design. It measures  163 x 80 x 9.5mm and weighs 221g, which means it’s sizable and heavy in the hand. It comes with a fingerprint scanner on the rear is easy to hit, and Sony has shifted it from its more commonly side-mounted location. The reason, it is easier for everyone to hit.

 Display

The Sony Xperia XA2 Ultra is its screen, measuring 6 inches and packing in a full HD, 1080p resolution. It comes with the bezel-less craze and the XA2 and XA2 still come with traditional 16:9 displays with sizeable top and bottom bezels.There is not a great choice of smartphones with screens this size at the sort of price point the Xperia XA2 will be pitched at, which means it may be able to carve out a niche for itself for those looking for an affordable Netflix/gaming device.

Processors and Storage

The Sony Xperia XA2 and XA2 Ultra are powered by the much more sensible and powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 processor. The cheaper XA2 comes with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. The XA2 Ultra has 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. Both smartphones allow for storage expansion via a microSD card.

Camera

Both the XA2 and XA2 Ultra come with a 23MP primary camera with an aperture of f/2.0. On the front, the XA2 makes do with a single 8MP fixed-focus camera and the XA2 pairs the 8Mp sensor with a secondary 16MP wide-angle sensor with optical image stabilization. The Ultra also has a dedicated selfie flash.

 Battery

The XA2 and XA2 Ultra are coming with much bigger power packs which are 3,300mAh and 3,580mAh respectively.

It comes with a headphone jack on the top, which will please corded fans, while on the base you will find a USB-C port.

Sony has introduced the Xperia L2. It comes with a 120-degree, wide-angle selfie camera with 8-megapixel resolution. The Android Nougat-running Xperia L2 will go on sale starting late January 2018.
