The recent update posted by Facebook states of the Facebook India CEO Umang Bedi, resigning from his position of the managing director, India, and South Asia. Instead, Sandeep Bhushan, director, consumer, and media, have been selected as the interim MD as the searches for a full-time successor to Bedi are on by the company.
As per the official statement released by the Social Media honcho, confirming the news, stated that “We confirm that Umang Bedi will be leaving his role at Facebook at the end of this year. He’s built a really strong team and business during his time with us, and we wish him all the best”.
Also, Facebook has appointed Sandeep Bhushan, director, consumer and media as the new interim managing director. Further, he has succeeded Kirthiga Reddy, who returned to the US to take on a new role at the company’s headquarters at Menlo Park.
Going back to Bedi, he was the managing director—South Asia at Adobe Systems Inc.and was responsible for growing their business in India and helping India grow to within the leading markets for Adobe. Also, as a part of the Asia Pacific leadership team, his role was to lead the company’s business operations in the South Asia region.
He joined Facebook in July 2016, and during his entire tenure, Bedi mainly focused on growing the business, building engagement and partnerships by focusing on verticals, brands, and agencies.
Further, Bedi has succeeded Kirthiga Reddy, who returned to the US to take on a new role at the company’s headquarters at Menlo Park.
As per the closest sources, Bedi is expected to start an entrepreneurial venture of his own, though there is no confirmation of this news from his side till now. But expectations are on the rift that this might be a very important cause for his exit from the company.
