This time, the trending news is from the app section. To start off, Facebook’s Messenger Lite has got richer with more features such as animated GIFs and mostly the customization features that were available in the full-sized Messenger app.
Regarding this, Krish Gali, Product Manager, Facebook, recently wrote in his blog post that, “While you could receive GIFs in Messenger Lite for some time, they were not animated. Starting now, people can express themselves more in chats with family and friends by sending and playing animated GIFs. To send a GIF, use a third party keyboard (such as the Google keyboard), search for GIFs in their library, and send a more expressive message”.
Users would now also be able to customize their conversations with different people and groups and make various choices and emojis to make the chat more personal. With this new updates, Facebook’s Messenger Lite app has become a feature-rich service but the size still remains under 10MB.
The lightweight messaging app is right now available in over 100 countries and has updated itself with video chat capabilities earlier this year. Messenger Lite earlier had Messenger’s core experiences such as messaging, sending and receiving photos and links and receiving stickers. In fact, it also uses the same bolt logo as Messenger but with colors reversed. The bolt is blue with a white chat bubble background.
