The feature would allow Airtel users to ask questions related to billing, balance, offers and other recharge related queries. At the same time, Airtel would also continue to track what questions customer are asking and enable responses to them via Google Assistant.

Airtel stated that this initiative is part of the company’s Project Next digital innovation programme which is basically aimed at transforming customer experience across all of its services and touch points.

To this Sarang Kanade, director of customer experience and retail at Bharti Airtel, added that, “As part of our digital transformation journey, this is another yet innovation to empower our customers. This will make digital self-care much more interactive and step up the customer experience. We will continue to bring more of such exciting solutions for Digital India”.

To delve deep, both Airtel prepaid and postpaid customers are entitled to avail this new service, but to make use, there are some pre-fixed queries which a user should issue to Google Assistant.

For the Airtel prepaid users, they can ask queries such as What is my data balance, Best Offers, What is my account balance and Recharge, while postpaid users can check their current outstanding bill with the query ‘what is my current outstanding.’

In addition, postpaid users might as well ask service related questions such as Why is my bill so high? Bill Summary, Pay the bill, Current data usage? What is my current plan? What are available Airtel Postpaid Plans?

Now, how to link the Airtel account with Google Assistant?

First of all, to avail the service, Airtel users should link their account with Google Assistant. For the Android users, they should fire up the Google Assistant by pressing the home button, while iOS users should download the Google Assistant app on their smartphone. After firing up the Assistant, users would have to speak into assistant as Talk to Airtel, Ask Airtel or Get Airtel.

Right after issuing the command, Airtel assistant would open within Google Assistant and thus to get the account details, the Airtel assistant would ask to link the Airtel account with Google. If clicked yes within the assistant, users would be asked to enter the Airtel mobile number, accept the Terms and Service, and once accept, users would receive an OTP. The last step includes entering the OTP to complete linking the account. Now, once linked, users  can start asking Google Assistant the Airtel account related questions.
