Tech Giant Google reveals the second generation of its Pixel smartphone – Pixel smartphone named Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL. It will be handy in India from November 15 priced at Rs 61,000 onwards.
The devices, which will compete in the premium segment with devices like Apple’s iPhone 8 and X including Samsung’s Note 8, will be available in five other markets including the US, the UK, and Australia.
The large Pixel XL comes in with 6-inch display. Whereas, the smaller size Pixel 2 has a 5- inch OLED screen. “Pixel 2 is loaded with a better camera that not only lets you take great pictures but helps you understand the world around you; a battery that lasts all day; and an Assistant that helps you get more done,” it said in a statement.
The Pixel 2 phones don’t have headphone jacks. The company has mentioned various reason behind lopping of the jack. It makes the phone thinner, allows for a big battery, more people are listening using wireless headphones and more. The audio speakers are moved to the front.
Both the phones, Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL have a water-resistant capacity. Satisfying IP67 waterproof standards. They can be submerged in about 3 feet (1 meter) of water for up to 30 minutes.
The Smartphones looks very tidy and clean. The device has a glass shade on the back which is made out of the more durable Corning Gorilla Glass 5 and it is better Integrated, running right up to the phone’s edges.
These two Android Oreo phones are Google’s high-end devices for the leadup into 2018. During the launch event, Google also demonstrated Google Lens. It is a new set of visual features that build on Google advancements in computer vision and machine learning.
Apart from looking up landmarks, books, music albums among others form Google Photos on the Pixel handset, users will also be able to take actions like asking Google Lens to copy URLs and contact information from a picture of a poster or business card.
Google Said, “The company is bringing an early preview of Google Lens to Pixel, so you can try it before anyone else ”.
In India, 64 GB version of Pixel 2 will be priced at Rs 61,000 and 128GB variant will be available for Rs 70,000. Pixel 2 XL will be priced at Rs 73,000 and 128GB priced for Rs.82,000. Just being an Android phone yet the device is quiet costly for India.
Pre-orders will commence on October 26. Pixel 2 will be on sale from November 1 and Pixel 2 XL from November 15 in over 1,000 stores across the country. The device will be available on Flipkart (online e-commerce platform).
