The latest mid-range smartphone Honor Play, by Huawei brand, has been launched in India. This smartphone is an Amazon exclusive, and have gone on sale from 4 pm IST today itself. To look back, this Honor Play was launched in China back in June and was also made available in two variants, i.e. in 4GB RAM and 6GB RAM, both featuring 64GB of inbuilt storage. Both these Honor Play models have been launched in India. The company at its New Delhi launch event detailed all about the Honor Play like the price in India, its launch offers, and its specifications. The highlights of the smartphone include its 19.5:9 display, and its dual rear camera setup. Another highlight is the GPU Turbo technology, which was launched with the smartphone at its China launch event, and this is supposed to increase performance by up to 60 percent while reducing battery consumption by up to 30 percent. The company is also touting EMUI 8.2’s AI features, which include the scene, object, and 3D facial recognition, AI-based Face Unlock, Notification Safety, Party Mode, and more. There is also an AI-based shopping experience called Hi-Touch, and this lets users take photographs of products to quickly find and buy them via Amazon India.

Honor Play: Price in India and launch offers

The Honor Play price for India starts at ₹19,999 for the 4GB RAM variant and goes up to ₹23,999 for the 6GB RAM variant. Both would be available on sale via Amazon India and the Hi Honor Store from Monday itself, starting at 4 pm IST. The smartphones would be made available in color variants of Midnight Black and Navy Blue. The Honor Play launch offers on Amazon India include a bundled Vodafone offer that would provide 10GB of data additional per month for a year, along with an Amazon Prime subscription, and much more.


Honor Play: Specifications

The dual-SIM (Nano) Honor Play runs EMUI 8.2, based on Android 8.1 Oreo. The smartphone, in fact, boasts of a 6.3-inch full-HD+ (1080×2340 pixels) display with a 19.5:9 aspect ratio and a display notch. In addition, this is powered by the top-end Huawei HiSilicon Kirin 970 SoC (four Cortex-A73 cores clocked at 2.36GHz and four Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.8GHz), that’s coupled either 4GB or 6GB of RAM, depending on the variant purchased.

Talking of the camera specs, the Honor Play bears a dual rear camera setup, with the primary 16-megapixel sensor sporting a f/2.2 aperture, and the secondary 2-megapixel sensor sporting a f/2.4 aperture, complete with support for phase detection autofocus (PDAF) and accompanied by a single-LED flash. On the front, the Honor Play also features a 16-megapixel sensor with a f/2.0 aperture.


Both 4GB RAM and 6GB RAM models of the Honor Play come with 64GB of inbuilt storage, expandable via microSD card (up to 256GB) in a hybrid dual-SIM configuration. Connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac (dual-band, 2.4GHz and 5GHz), Bluetooth v4.2, USB Type-C (v2.0), GPS/ A-GPS, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. Sensors on board include an accelerometer, ambient light sensor, digital compass, gyroscope, and a proximity sensor. With a fingerprint rear on the rear panel, the Honor Play smartphone weighs around 176 grams, and measures almost 157.91×74.27×7.48mm, powered by a 3750mAh battery.
