As per HMD Global, its latest mid-range smartphone Nokia 5, will be reaching India by August 15. The company, which started selling its Nokia 3 in India a few weeks back, and has the rights to use the Nokia branding, did not utter a word of confirmation, initially, regarding the launch of this latest mid-range phone. But now, the massive demand for Nokia 3, across all the markets, led HMD Global to focus on its manufacturing resources initially. These new Nokia Android smartphones are manufactured by Foxconn.
One of the authorities of HMD Global regarded that, “We are humbled by the response to Nokia 3. Currently, we are ramping up our production for Nokia 3 on priority to meet the existing consumer demand. In the coming weeks, we will start production of Nokia 6 and Nokia 5 to get them ready for sales start by mid-August”.
The initial announcements of the availability of Nokia 3, Nokia 5 and Nokia 6 smartphones have been commenced in June this year. While Nokia 3 had hit the market from 16th June, the company had just announced the pre-bookings for the Nokia 5 and Nokia 6, starting from July 7th and July 14th respectively.
Talking of the bookings, Nokia 6 pre-bookings will be available on Amazon India while the Nokia 5 will have its pre-bookings for ‘select mobile retail outlets’ found all across Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Chandigarh, Jaipur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Indore, Hyderabad, Pune, Ahmedabad, and Kozhikode.
Priced at Rs.9,499, Nokia 3 had gained huge popularity all over India. Now, it’s time for Nokia 5 and Nokia 6 priced at Rs.14,999 and 12,899, to gain the same kind of prominence.
Now, all that you need to know about this Nokia 5 smartphone, launched in February 2017. This phone comes with a 5.20-inch touchscreen display with a resolution of 720 pixels by 1280 pixels. Further, it is powered by octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor, which comes with 2GB of RAM. The phone provides 16GB of internal storage that can be expanded up to 128GB via a microSD card. Talking of the cameras, the Nokia 5 packs a 13-megapixel primary camera on the rear and an 8-megapixel front shooter for selfies.
Measuring up to 149.70 x 72.50 x 8.05 (height x width x thickness), the Nokia 5 runs Android 7.1.1 and is powered by a 3000mAh non-removable battery.
This is a dual SIM (GSM and GSM) smartphone that accepts Nano-SIM and Nano-SIM. Precisely, the connectivity options include Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, NFC, USB OTG, FM, 3G and 4G (with support for Band 40 used by some LTE networks in India). The added features are the Sensors on the phone including Compass Magnetometer, Proximity sensor, Accelerometer, Ambient light sensor and Gyroscope.
Lastly, HMD Global has announced a network of over 400 distributors to aid its latest range of Nokia Android smartphones and feature phones. HMD has high hopes of reaching its latest range of Nokia devices to more than 80,000 retail outlets across the country with this network.
