Keeping up with its strategy to counter Reliance Jio, Airtel has come up with yet another unlimited calling plan. This time Airtel is offering 28 days of unlimited talktime with 1 GB of 4G data per day, at just ₹199.

The Rs 199 Airtel recharge pack, it noted, includes both local and STD voice calls. This plan is only valid for only the existing customers of Airtel. For its new subscribers Airtel has a ₹178 plan, which also offers similar benefits. New Airtel customers can avail this offer with first recharge or second recharge.

In contrast to Airtel, Reliance Jio’s ₹149 plan gives 2GB data and unlimited voice calls for 28 days, There is no limitation in voice calls aspect on the Reliance Jio network. But Airtel’s website says the plan has some terms and conditions, which might be the restriction of voice calls to 300 minutes per day and 1200 minutes per week.

Airtel also has a ₹149 plan, giving users 300 MB of data along with unlimited local and STD Airtel mobile calls.

As said earlier, Airtel launched these two plans aiming at Reliance Jio’s low-cost ₹149 plan. Airtel and other telcos have been trying to match Reliance Jio in the tariff plans race, ever since Jio came up with unlimited call plans. Airtel also offering a ₹399 tariff plan for some time now that gives 1GB data and unlimited voice calls for 84 days.

Analysts say this price war will rage on, as long as Reliance Jio continues to offer new unlimited service plans every other month. Though it is difficult to predict which telco will eventually win this rat race, this is surely a win-win scenario from the consumers’ perspective and the spread of 4G communication in the country as a whole.
