The renowned Indian smartphone manufacturer, Micromax, has confirmed to launch its latest series of handsets on August 22. With this brand new Infinity series, the domestic manufacturer vows to redefine the mobile experience in the range of mid-level Android smartphones. The Micromax Infinity series aims to introduce consumers to large screen designs at an affordable budget.
The teaser image, which is being displayed by the manufacturing brand, in the run-up to the launching event, has an unmistakable teaser element, along with a sharp catch-line. The line says, “Let’s put a number to infinity”. It is relevant to mention here, the upcoming Infinity series of smartphones, from Micromax stable, will have an aspect ratio of 18:9 in the display.
Industry insiders are of the opinion that with the all-new Infinity series, Micromax is bidding hard to get back its lost position in the market. Once considered as a major player in the mid-range segment of the Indian smartphone market, Micromax lost its market share to competitors like Samsung, Oppo and Xiaomi over the last few months. Even in Q4 of the last financial year, it had 10% market share, which gradually fumed away mainly because of competitive pricing mainly from the Chinese brands.

The launching of the Micromax Infinity series Android-powered handsets coincides with that of high-end Samsung products, Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+. As such, it is expected that Micromax will launch multiple models from the Infinity series at the August 22 event. Now, it is to be seen, how the Indian market reacts to the distinct range of products from the two iconic brands.
It is to be noted here that the Infinity series from the Micromax stable is not the first attempt by any mobile manufacturer to introduce the Indian audience to large screen design at a reasonable price. In the recent past, LG came up with a Q6 smartphone with FullVision Display in India with a price tag of INR 14, 990. Micromax is expected to keep its price within that range if not below, to attract customers.
Micromax India is gunning for Samsung with its new Infinity Series of smartphones
There will be no home button at the front of the Infinity series of smartphones. Experts believe the entire range of the upcoming product will possess on-screen navigation button. Considering these factors, the speculation is gathering steam that with the Infinity series, Micromax is particularly targeting the section of the consumers, who watch a lot of multimedia on their hand-held devices.
