Microsoft declared the purpose to save all your settings as part of the newest update for Xbox Insiders on the Alpha ring. Anyone using this new update will see all their home console settings saved in the cloud. Then, when a new console is switched on the choice of using these settings will be introduced during the sign-in process.

The settings saving expands to include both TV and OneGuide options, meaning transporting from one console to another should be completely painless and a near-instant process (if you don’t count redownloading and installing all your games).

Other new features Xbox Insiders have access to this week include the potential to complete the setup of an Xbox One X using the Xbox iOS or Android app while the day one update downloads.

It is now possible to gift most digital games Xbox Live Gold, and Xbox Game Pass right from the console, it’s easier to use the “Buy & download” feature from the Xbox dashboard, games you haven’t unlocked any achievements for can be hidden from public view, and Game Hubs for your most recently played games will be accessible directly from the Guide and don’t require you leave a game to access them.

Regardless of the other features Insiders just got access to, the settings saving alone is worth rolling out a new version for. It is not a killer feature, but removing the problem completely from setting up a console is something gamers remember. Those helpful little features are what they tell their friends about and how it “just worked.”

There are currently no details on when all Xbox owners will gain access to this update. However, seeing as Microsoft just made it much easier to upgrade to an Xbox One X with the cloud settings feature, expected it won’t take long before it is rolled out to all.
