Netflix is the trending news right now. Recently, it was heard that it would be rolling out features that would access parents with more control the content, by enabling them to block individual movies and certain shows which they consider inappropriate.
Further, this states that users would be also able to restrict content only with a specific maturity rating, with the help of a numeric password.
To this, Mike Hastings, Netflix’s director of enhanced content, wrote in a blog post that these new features would be available globally in the coming months.
To delve deep, Netflix has more than 100 million users across the world and spends billions of dollars in creating original shows such as “The Crown” and “Stranger Things.”
Also, nudity is a very common thing in several of its popular shows such as “Sense8”, “Orange is the New Black” and “House of Cards”. However, those shows come with an “adult” rating.
Further, Netflix has added here that it would “more prominently” show the maturity level of a film or a series once users have played it.
Netflix has also regarded that in all probability, it would change the way it displays its maturity ratings, making them more descriptive and visible at the start of a show or movie so that parents would know exactly what they’re putting on from the very start with no sudden and awkward surprises.
This step by Netflix, is in lieu of helping parents, just after the announcement that Disney is going to be launching its very own streaming service and the trouble YouTube Kids has had with some very non-child friendly content coming through.
