Car keys might not be needed anymore for unlocking the vehicle. Yes, this is the latest announcement made by BMW authority, where they are reviewing the necessity of car keys, as stated by Ian Robertson, the company’s board member responsible for sales.
This decision is mainly based on the observation that the present day scenario witnesses every customer carrying a smartphone. Coupled with this, the availability of the BMW App, which largely enables the customers to unlock their vehicle, have drastically reduced the importance of old-fashioned keys, making them less relevant.
In an interview at the FrankFurt car show, Robertson explained that majority of the people do not need their car keys for putting them in the ignition and starting the car.
So, he further regarded that, “We are looking at whether it is feasible, and whether we can do it. Whether we do it right now or at some point in the future, remains to be seen”.
