Good news for all the Nokia lovers out there. HMD Global is all geared up to launch the Nokia 1 in the weeks that would follow. Rumors are afloat that this would be the company’s first Android Go smartphone.

Now, the recent leaks have unveiled the first live images of the upcoming entry-level smartphone from Nokia.

The recent reports also reveal that HMD Global is working hard on its first prototype Android Go smartphone. Backed by Android 8.0, this is quite a resource-friendly version of the operating system that would enable the smartphone makers to launch sub-$30 smartphones. The second part of the report also reveals that Google is looking at the possibility of launching $30 Android Go smartphones in India, with Micromax, Intex, Lava companies being the first few partners.

Not much has been known about this prototype till now. But, even after that, the rumors suggest that this smartphone could sport an HD display, a quad-core chipset and 1GB of RAM. Also, the quad-core chipset is rumored to be the Qualcomm Snapdragon 212.

In terms of camera, the Nokia 1 could be launched with an 8MP rear camera and a 5MP front camera. A big 4,100mAh battery is expected to power this entry-level smartphone.

Now, the launching of this Nokia 1 with Android Go in markets like India could be a good decision, not just in terms of the cost of the phone, but also in terms of the network efficiency possible with Android Go apps. Here, Google recently revealed that several Go version of its apps including Gmail Go, Files Go, Google Maps Go, YouTube Go and more.

Though not yet confirmed, some reports suggest that the Nokia 1 could be priced around ₹6,000-6,500, which would be pitted against the likes of the Xiaomi Redmi 5A, 10 or D.
