It was just a few months back when Nokia announced the much-awaited Nokia 2 for ₹6,999. After this, recently, in a tweet, Juho Sarvikas, HMD CPO claimed that while it had been quite silent about new launches in the recent past, the brand was busy planning for the much awaited Mobile World Congress 2018 (MWC 2018).

Further claims by the CPO state that Nokia Mobile would be witnessing an ‘awesome’ launch at the annual event and this have raised high hopes, enlisting announcements related to a range of new smartphones. Now, the much-rumored Nokia 9 is also enlisted here.

More on this Nokia 9:

In all probability, this is the next flagship smartphone from the HMD Global after Nokia 8 which had the ‘bothie’ letting owners shoot and click video and photos using both (front and rear) cameras simultaneously.

Further reports added to this claim that Nokia could be preparing to launch a smartphone with five cameras this year. Also as per the sources, HMD has already worked on a smartphone with a Penta-lens, hinting towards a 5 camera setup for the primary camera and that is not 5 lenses in one camera. Nokia could be taking a page out of camera startup Light’s 16 sensor setup i.e. one sensor and lens for each shooting scenario or it could be looking at 360 capture, like its OZO, camera.

The website’s source claims that Sarvikas has even used the device at a Foxconn facility but hinted that it could be announced mainly in the first half of this year. Now, if things fall into place the device would be sent to production soon. This same five-eyed smartphone is also expected to feature an 18:9 full-screen display. In fact, the sources have also speculated that this phone would be having a Snapdragon 845 chipset, which is a top-end chip, likely to be used in many of this year’s most powerful phones.
