A new feature gets added to WhatsApp with the latest update. Recently, WhatsApp declared the inclusion of the new feature stating the user, sharing his/her location in real time with the friends on his/her contact list. This feature, termed as Live Location, is a popular one, borrowed from its parent company Facebook, and in all probability would be applicable for the usage of both the group of Android and iOS versions of the WhatsApp. Facebook has initially started its temporary location sharing in Messenger back in May, having experimented with the idea in different formats within Messenger and the Facebook app for years.
How to use this Live Location Feature?
For this, the user first needs to open a chat with a person or group. Then, under “Location” in the attach button, users need to tap on the “Share Live Location”. The users also need to set a timer for stating how long does he/she want to share the location and also the list of individuals, the user have selected for sending the location to see where is the user on a map in real time. Also, this feature works if multiple people share locations simultaneously, as people’s icons will then appear on the same map.
Lastly, WhatsApp has also promised that like all of its other messaging functions, this location sharing would also be end-to-end encrypted. The timer even appears to serve a security function. Users might also opt for the stopping of sharing their locations whenever, or even by letting the Live Location time expire.
