Finally, its confirmed. OnePlus has officially set a date for the launch of OnePlus 6 and to know more, the Indian buyers might also witness the smartphone just after a day of launch in China. Also, Amazon India would be selling the smartphone exclusively in India.

The company has put out official teaser saying the device will be launched on May 17 in China (7:30 am IST). Also, going by the convention, Indian audience is expected to get their own launch on May 18. OnePlus had also launched its previous device OnePlus 5T in November last year. So, continuing with the trend, this new device arrived six months after the launch of the OnePlus 5T.

More on the event states that this would be open to the public and fans, by paying a fee of CNY 99, i.e. roughly ₹1,000, to attend the launch. Again, this is definitely one of the most highly anticipated smartphones because of its high-end hardware and relatively affordable price tag, and is being promoted with the tagline “The Speed You Need.” This likely alludes to the Snapdragon 845 SoC and 8GB RAM.

Interestingly, the OnePlus 6 release date might also be been leaked. A report by GSMArena cites a reader who claims that OnePlus has sent emails to OnePlus phone owners that the upcoming flagship might witness a launch on May 18 or 21. Apparently, this reader has been selected for trial as part of the company’s new Lab programme which had started last week. The other contains also reported that this email, which had been sent out to selected testers includes all terms and conditions as well as the launch.

A part of the programme also states that invited buyers would be able to use the OnePlus 6 before launch and write a detailed community review of the flagship. Submissions are open until 10 pm EDT (7 am IST) on May 2 and the final reviewer squad would be announced by 10 pm EDT (7 am IST) on May 12.

Talking about the confirmed specifications, the OnePlus 6 would be getting a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC, 8GB of RAM, and a 256GB inbuilt storage variant. Apart from that, the phone would be also sporting a display notch – to incorporate the front camera and other sensors, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a glass back design.

Talking about rumors, wireless charging could be expected to be a part of the package, along with a bigger battery, similar to the one found in the OnePlus 5T. Additionally, the OnePlus 6 might sport a 6.28-inch full-HD+ (1080×2160 pixels) display with an 18:9 aspect ratio.
