Reliance Jio has recently launched its latest offer and this time it is in collaboration with the Chinese phone maker Oppo. Under this Jio Oppo Monsoon offer, the telco added that users are entitled to up to 3.2TB of free 4G data and benefits worth “up to Rs.4,900” when buying a new Oppo 4G smartphone in the country, though quite a number of a clause are attached to this. The Oppo-Jio offer is applicable on both old and new Jio prepaid SIM cards though right now, only the ₹198 and ₹299 prepaid packs are eligible for the offer benefits. To know more, the ₹198 Jio pack offers 2GB of 4G data per day, and the ₹299 Jio recharge gives the user 3GB worth of data benefits per day, for a validity of 28 days each.

This offers runs from June 28, 2018, to September 25, 2018. As for the benefits, Jio users would also receive 36 instant cashback coupons worth ₹50, thus adding the total cashback amount to ₹1,800. These vouchers can be used against subsequent monthly recharges for any Jio subscriber, and are valid till September 30, 2021. In addition, an amount up to ₹1,800 would be issued to the user in three tranches of Jio Money credit, post the 13th, 26th, and 39th recharge. While the ₹299 pack subscribers would get up to ₹1,800 Jio Money credit, users subscribing to the ₹198 would be able to avail only up to ₹600 in credit.


Here comes the main twist to the plot, i.e. ₹1,300 worth of discount coupons from MakeMyTrip would also be a part of the offer, valid till October 31, 2018, taking the total amount to ₹4,900. In totality, two coupons would be provided, that lists one for domestic hotels and the other for domestic flight bookings. The coupons would be visible in the user’s account within 48 hours of the first recharge. Now, these cashback coupons and MakeMyTrip vouchers have been part of other Jio recharge offers as well, so the real benefit on offer here is really questionable. Also, as mentioned earlier, the Jio offer is applicable on all Oppo 4G phones, except the Realme 1 (Review).

Also, earlier this week, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) published its telecom subscription report for April which stated the addition of 96 lakh new Jio subscribers. Jio currently comes in fourth in the Indian market with a market share of 17.44 percent.
