Reliance Jio is again here to capture the market with its latest venture. This Indian telecom operator honcho is apparently in talks with American chipset maker Qualcomm to launch a laptop with 4G connectivity in India. Also, these laptops would be probably aimed at the budget segment and if they are launched with 4G connectivity,  could also have a significant impact on the laptop segment in the Indian market.

After disrupting the Indian telecom market with its highly competitive plans, Reliance Jio is now looking to venture into the laptop arena and offer bundled 4G services to improve its average revenue per user.

Miguel Nunes, Senior Director, Product Management, Qualcomm Technologies, reported that Qualcomm is working with Reliance Jio on this project. He added to this that, “We have talked to Jio. They could take the device and bundle it with data and content.”

To know more, Qualcomm is already working on an ‘Always Connected PC’ with bigwigs such as HP, Asus, and Lenovo globally. Moreover, already 14 operators have extended their support for this including AT& T, Sprint, and Verizon in the US, as well as major operators in UK, Australia, Germany, France, and Italy.

More on the laptops state that these would reportedly run on Windows 10 and come with Qualcomm chipsets. Qualcomm is already working with other original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) like Asus, Lenovo and HP to launch Always-connected PCs. With this, Snapdragon 845 powered devices have also been launched in the US by HP and Asus.

Recent reports state that Qualcomm is currently working with Reliance Jio on the company’s 4G feature phone. The Qualcomm powered 4G laptops from Reliance Jio might arrive with Jio’s suite of apps, allowing users to watch movies, listen to music and use other Jio apps for free.
