Reliance Jio is yet again hitting the headlines. It has topped the charts of Trai’s 4G download speed test results, dodging all its contemporaries namely, Airtel, Vodafone, and Idea.
As per the data published on Trai’s (The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India) website, for the month of May, the average download 4G speed of Reliance Jio Network has calculated 18.809 megabits per second (mbps), binding telcos like Bharti Airtel, Vodafone, and Idea Cellular. Here, the thing to note is that Reliance Jio has acquired this place, beating Bharti Airtel, which was initially rated as the fastest 4G network of 2016, as per the reports by US-based Ookla.
However, the situation was not the same, as even in January, the average download speed of Jio’s network had considerably gone down from 17.42 mbps, as per the reports by Trai. Also, Vodafone India ‘s 4G network pitched an average download speed of 7.933 mbps, straight going down from 8.3 mbps in January.
After Reliance Jio, Idea Cellular, India’s third-largest telecom operator is the occupant of the second position with 12.09 mbps average download speed, followed by Bharti Airtel at 10.43 mbps download speed.
Now, this ranking list by Trai is already leading to a tensed situation between Mukesh Ambani-led Jio and Sunil Bharti Mittal-owned Bharti Airtel, where the former has accused Ookla of “falsely” certifying Bharti Airtel in spite of the knowledge of the test results being flawed and unreliable.
Airtel is leading in cities like Ranchi, Dehradun, Shillong, Kolkata, Chandigarh, Jaipur, Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur, Indore, New Delhi, Chennai, Bangalore, and Ahmedabad while Reliance Jio is leading in cities like Shimla, Kochi, and Lucknow.
So, the declaration of the ultimate winner remains a hard task.
