Finally, the day is here. Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ would be officially launched in the Indian markets today. To look back, the devices have been first unveiled at Barcelona at the previous month. Also, to know more, the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ have been opened for pre-bookings in India for ₹2,000, and even if this is a token amount, the original prices of the smartphones haven’t been announced yet.

Now, certain details of the launch, users would like to know:

When would it get launched?

Samsung would be hosting a live stream event for the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+. The event would be starting at 12.30 pm on March 6 and users interested would be able to watch the live stream at the following links, like http://news.samsung.com/in/ or http://news.samsung.com/bharat/.

Right now, the Samsung India YouTube page does not have any live stream URL up.

How to book?

Ahead of the India launch, the Airtel Online Store and the Samsung Shop have all begun pre-bookings of the smartphones, while Flipkart is set to begin from Tuesday.

Price and Specifications:

As per sources, the Samsung Galaxy S9 would launch in India carrying  ₹57,900 for the 64GB model. Meanwhile, the Galaxy S9+ would be priced at ₹64,900 for the entry-level model. The 256GB variants of the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ would be available to consumers in India at ₹65,900 and ₹72,900 respectively. However, the 128GB variant of the smartphones that was announced in Barcelona would not be available in India for launch.

The highlight of the features of Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ sets of the dual aperture setup on the primary rear camera sensor, which is capable of shooting at f/2.4 when there’s ample light but can also switch to f/1.5 when the phone detects low-light conditions. The other headline feature of the Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ camera states of the super slow-mo camera that’s capable of recording 960 frames per second. Samsung has also introduced a special feature this time, i.e. the AR Emoji, and is the answer to Apple’s Animoji with a few key changes.

The Galaxy S9 duo is further powered by the Samsung Exynos 9810 SoC. With this, it is backed by You Android Oreo and IP68 water + dust resistance as well. Further, connectivity options include Gigabit LTE, dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11ac, USB Type-C, Bluetooth 5.0, and, yes, the 3.5mm headphone jack. Both phones have an identical 8-megapixel autofocus front camera f/1.7 sensor and come with a microSD slot with support for cards up to 400GB capacity.

Again, the Samsung Galaxy S9 features a 5.8-inch QHD+ Curved Super AMOLED 18.5:9 display, 4GB of RAM, a 3000mAh battery, and a SuperSpeed Dual Pixel 12-megapixel autofocus f/1.5-f/2.4 sensor with OIS. It measures 147.7×68.7×8.5mm and weighs 163 grams.

Meanwhile, the Samsung Galaxy S9+ lists a 6.2-inch QHD+ Curved Super AMOLED 18.5:9 display, 6GB of RAM, a 3500mAh battery. With this, it also boasts of a dual rear camera setup with dual OIS, specifically a wide-angle lens with SuperSpeed Dual Pixel 12-megapixel autofocus f/1.5-f/2.4 sensor and a telephoto lens with 12-megapixel autofocus f/2.4 sensor. In fact, it measures 158.1×73.8×8.5mm and weighs 189 grams.

Lastly, the Galaxy S9 and S9+ would be available starting on March 16, 2018, in selected markets and would be offered in Midnight Black, Titanium Gray, Coral Blue and a new hue, Lilac Purple, variants.
