Vodafone has joined hands with Amazon to offer the latter’s Prime service. The worth of the service is ₹999 and it is free to Vodafone Red postpaid customers. It is a move aimed at ring-fencing its high-paying customers in an intensely competitive market. India’s leading telco, Bharti Airtel, had inked a similar deal with Amazon Prime in January this year.

Content is emerging as a key factor in India’s intensely competitive telecom market. Jio, which had launched services in September 2016, offers free access to its digital content services. The offers include live TV, video on demand, music streaming and cloud storage, bundled with mobile services. It pegs content as a key differentiator.

Jio has been partnering with several content deals with players for its aggregated content apps JioTV and Jio Cinema.

About the service

Under the offer, Vodafone Red customers will get access to Prime Video, Prime Music and unlimited free fast shipping on items. Along with early and exclusive access to deals on Amazon.in, according to an official statement. The annual Amazon Prime membership can be activated through the Vodafone Play app.
