WhatsApp has taken a really effective measure this time, in lieu of stopping mass-level spam circulation on its platform. It is said to be working on a feature that would show the text as “Forwarded Message” if the post has been forwarded from another chat or from the same chat. Initially, this feature, termed as the WhatsApp update tracker has been spotted by WABetaInfo. It claimed that this feature is spotted in WhatsApp beta for Android v2.18.67 and that the feature is disabled by default.
Also, the information on their website read like, “Today, WhatsApp has modified the behaviour of the feature, that will show on the bubble (when the feature will be enabled in future), a ‘Forwarded Message’ string, if the message has been forwarded from another chat (or from the same chat)”.
WhatsApp has recently debuted the Group Description feature in its beta for Android and Windows Phone. Unlike, its Forwarded Message and Sticker features, this is visible only to users and does not need to be enabled via any code. Any member of the group can edit the text in the new group description tab, although WhatsApp might be looking to restrict access to admins in future updates. The maximum character limit for group descriptions is 500 characters. Also, this move is expected to offer better context to public groups after chat invite links were initially launched by WhatsApp in 2016.
To look back, even WhatsApp Payments feature is being beta tested in India. This test is currently confined to 1 million user base and only allows for small amounts to be transferred via the app. Based on UPI (Unified Payments Interface), WhatsApp’s Payments would enable direct bank level transfers as well as peer-to-peer based transactions. However, right now, merchants, businesses are not yet supported on the feature.
