To all the gadget freaks out there, Xiaomi has some really exciting news this season. Finally, it has launched its big smartphone, not in terms of price or size but in terms of the impact it might have on the Indian market. The new Redmi Y1 is a brand new series that has been exclusively unveiled in India.
Also, in lieu to the immense love for the selfies possessed by y-generation, this latest series, as the name suggests is mainly targeted towards them, promising a 16 Megapixel front facing camera and a 16 Megapixel primary camera. So, the device not only features a high definition module but also performs better in terms of low-light pictures. In addition, the front facing camera will come with an LED flash and a 76.4 degree wide angle lens.
Now a detailed description of these new devices, which are speculated to be the global version of the Redmi Note 5A Prime and the Redmi Note 5A, released in September in China.
Xiaomi Redmi Y1:
The Xiaomi Redmi Y1 boasts of a 5.5” LCD with Full HD resolution and a Snapdragon 435 chipset with an octa-core CPU clocked at 1.4 GHz. There are two memory options, namely, 3 GB RAM + 32 GB storage or 4 GB RAM + 64 GB storage. Added to this, the phone runs MIUI 8 powered by Android Nougat 7.0, but is expected to get MIUI 9 by the end of the year. The camera on the back actually has a lower-resolution 13 MP sensor. The phone comes with a fingerprint sensor on the back as well as a trio of card slots so two nano SIMs and a micro SD card can be accommodated at the same time. Talking of the price, the 3GB variant will be priced at Rs 8,999, whereas the higher 4GB variant will be available at Rs 10,999.
Xiaomi Redmi Y1 Lite:
The lite version of the Redmi Y1 shares the specs similar to that of the Redmi Note 5A. There is a Snapdragon 425 chipset, 2 GB RAM and a 5.5” LCD of 720p resolution. The selfie camera has a rather basic 5 MP sensor, but the main one has the same resolution as the non-Lite version, 13 MP. The fingerprint scanner is gone from the back, though no details have disclosed about the selfie camera on the Redmi Y1 Lite, till now.
The processor on Xiaomi Redmi Y1 Lite will be a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 425, along with 2GB of RAM and 16GB internal storage. Also, the powerhouse on this device will be a 3080mAh battery which can last a day.
The sale of both Xiaomi Redmi Y1 and Redmi Y1 Lite will be commencing from November 8 at 12PM and will be put up for sale on Xiaomi’s official website as well as Amazon. The device will also be available across Redmi Stores. Along with this, Xiaomi has also paired with Reliance Digital to sell their devices.
