Xiaomi is all geared up for the launch of its next flagship phone, i.e. Mi 8 on May 31. In fact, Xiaomi is launching the Mi 8, instead of its Mi 7 to celebrate its eighth-anniversary edition this year. Now, just a few days prior to the launch, a lot of the specs and design of the Mi 8 are already known about. Now, the retail box has surfaced online, which has already re-confirmed some of the already rumored hardware details. For now, Xiaomi would be launching the phone only in its home market, China. However, as of yet, there are no words if the company would bring the device to other markets including India or not.
So, this retail box of the Mi 8 has been leaked by Slashleaks. The leaked box doesn’t reveal any new information about the phone. So, as mentioned earlier, it has just re-confirmed the earlier rumors. Right now, there’s no mention of the price in the box. The leaked retail box of the Mi 8 reveals that the flagship phone would be backed by Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor, 6GB RAM and 64B of internal storage which would be expandable up to 128GB via microSD card. Again, another information revealed by the retail box is that the upcoming Mi 8 would come with dual-GPS support.
The outer cover of the retail box has also revealed the hardware details, while the inside cover shows a picture of the phone revealing both back and front. The image on the box shows the presence of dual camera setup on the back, which has been also confirmed by the earlier rumor. The retail box hints that, out of the two cameras, the primary one would come with a 20-megapixel image sensor. Now, this is the same as suggested by the leaked specs sheet last week. The retail, box also shows the presence of USB Type-C port, but hints of a 3.5mm audio jack missing from Mi 8, just as the Mi 6. The image of the retail box also shows the iPhone X-like notch on the top of the display.
As mentioned, the complete specs sheet of the Mi 8 was leaked last week. The specs sheet revealed that the flagship phone sport a 6.2-inch IPS (LCD) display with a 1080p+ resolution. It also mentioned that the device would be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage. The phone would be backed by Android 8.1 Oreo software and because Xiaomi would be announcing the MIUI 10 on May 31, chances are high that the Mi 8 would be the first phone to be shipped with the new version of MIUI.
